The Challenge

In 2020, during the onset of the pandemic, much of the communication from this West Michigan public school to its district community was virtual. Like many schools, they heavily relied on their website to relay important information as plans, events, and protocols were changing almost daily. During this time, the district utilized their newly designed website which had the ability to organize complex information in an easy-to-use experience for families.

The Goal

To create a distinct and non-templated website to allow the brand to stand out in a highly competitive market. The district wanted the brand to make a statement when people visited the homepage - the district wanted visitors to take notice and realize there’s something different about this school community. In addition, creating more complex pages allowed the school to showcase their differentiating features such as Profile of a Graduate and their focus on Mental Health, Diversity & Inclusion.

The Approach

  • In a highly competitive market, this district realized it needed to stand out by showcasing its brand on the website as visitors visit the homepage.

  • Highlight the district’s unique focus on defining graduate skills and characteristics for todays word.

  • Research completed by Galapagos was able to pinpoint how prospective families use school websites to learn more and enroll. Features of the website were created to nudge prospective families into the tools and information they needed to start the enrollment process.

  • Ongoing maintenance and updates by the Galapagos team keeps content fresh.

The Results

The website redesign successfully created a distinctive site that showcases the district’s differentiators, provides users with an easy (and ADA-compliant) experience, and encourages prospective families to enroll.
